FEATI University’s College of Maritime Education (CME) Continues to Ride an Unstoppable Swell of Goodwill at Number 1!
CME in the best tip-top shape it’s ever been, is looming larger on the radar of maritime education and continuously enhancing its reputation as a maritime college that ‘can and will’ as it rises to NUMBER ONE on the list of Maritime Higher Education Institutions in the National Capital Region with a recognized Merchant Marine (Deck) Officer Program (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) and Merchant Marine (Engineer) Officer Program (Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering).
This exciting development comes fresh off the windfall of great news that has been bestowed on one of FEATI University’s showcase colleges: passing the CHED-MARINA OBMI Audit; earning a slot as an officer school requires three government-required triangulation data i.e. OBE, rate of PRC passers, and shipboard deployment; Receiving the recertification to ISO 9001:2008, on the cusp of upgrading to Level II PACU-COA accreditation; and increasing its number of industry partners for its ship-bound cadets. This officially declares that FEATI University’s College of Maritime Education is one of only three maritime schools in NCR that have recognized programs to propel cadets to captains and chief engineers. It is also worth noting that there are more than a hundred maritime schools nationwide but only a fistful had made it to this CHED-MARINA list this year.
Not one to sit on its laurels, the academic leaders of CME plan to use these accomplishments as leverage to get the following plans off the dock: offer a two-year ESLP course (Enhanced Support Level Program) for deck and engine support crew; unbundle the Bachelor of Science (BS) program to create a ‘best-of-the-best’ batch of cadet graduates; and get 100% of all graduates from Ring-Hop to shipboard deployment.
CME Superintendent Edmon S. Aloc is ecstatic about his college’s achievements saying, “I think our strength is in shipboard deployment. Our college tracer study confirmed that, from 1978 to 2014, we’ve had a high of 78% to a low of 42% shipboard deployment for our cadets. This, in my opinion, is a feat that takes years to achieve and could not be equaled by any school in NCR. We are seriously eyeing 100% deployment to honor CME’s commitment to excellence. Of course, we could not have done this without the all-out support, commitment and dedication of top management so my gratitude goes out to all of them. Collectively as FEATIU and CME, we powered through to the top of the list and I cannot be more proud of what we have accomplished.”
