FEATI University's College of Maritime Education Redux Recognition Rites
FEATI University brought back on its second year, the College of Maritime Education Recognition Rites for third year cadets during ceremonies last April 24, 2013 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). The event was in commemoration of their academic accomplishments preceding their year-long shipboard training—a rigorous stint that is considered their fourth academic year.
This year’s theme, “FEATI.Maritime: Highest Technology. Best Maritime Programs. Excellent Graduates.” speaks of the College’s decades-long standing as a forerunner in producing merchant marines that are trained, equipped, and ready to board any ship, anywhere in the world. The University’s pursuit of quality versus mass production while also making certain that prime, A-grade facilities for aspiring merchant mariners are in place for those who want to work on a global platform.
As with last year’s maiden event, FEATI CME alumni of renown in the maritime industry and industry partners holding top positions were present to lend their support: Capt. Jaime D. Aquino, CME Batch 1968, Chairman, PRC Board of Marine Deck Officers; Capt. Amado L. Castro, Jr. (who was the Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honor), CME Batch 1971, president of Reinier Pacific International Shipping Inc.; Capt. Ireneo U. De Los Santos, CME Batch 1969, Member, PRC Board of Marine Deck Officers; Capt. Mayronilo B. Padiz, CME Batch 1976, president of DOHLE Seafront Crewing (Manila) Inc.; Capt. Leopoldo C. Tenorio, CME Batch 1973, CEO for Operations of Marlow Navigation Phils. Inc; Bibby Ship Management Philippines president, Mr. Jonathan M. Palma and director, Dr. Jose Emmanuel Gonzales; Grace Marine & Shipping Corporation GM Capt. Jimmy R. Boado; JO Tankers Philippines, Inc. crewing manager, Mr. Edgardo Tibayan; Klaveness Maritime Agency, Inc. president Capt. Victor S. del Prado; Trans-Star Shipping Agency Corporation; Trans-Star president and FEATI’s very own, Capt. Hernando S. Eusebio.
Guest of Honor and Speaker, Capt. Amado L. Castro, Jr., nostalgically shared how his FEATI education, with the help of his extremely generous and gifted mentors and professors, shaped and propelled him to the professional that he is today---working his way up to becoming president of a shipping company 42 years after getting his diploma.
Capt. Castro emphasized the hard realities of the profession and the need to specialize as against being a generalist in order to become indispensable in a highly-competitive and heavily-regulated industry. He ended his address by saying “LOOK UP YOUNG MAN LOOK UP. Life is at your hands. Sail the sea of life with confidence.”
Finally the time came when the cadets were called up on stage to receive their certificates of recognition accompanied by those dearest to them. In recognition of their achievements, the top three cadets of Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation led the entourage. The top three cadets of Marine Engineering were:
RANK 1 KISHIN JR. L. LALWANI, JR.
RANK 2 ALVIN B. DIZON
RANK 3 FARZAD BAGHBADORANI BAHADORAN
The top three cadets of Marine Transportation were:
RANK 1 BONGBONG G. REYES
RANK 2 JOSEPH BRYAN L. PERCIL
RANK 3 MARY JANE P. JARABILO
The event was made all the more relevant when after the recessional, the cadets were all given the rare opportunity to speak with industry partners and guests before sailing off into the sunset of their destiny.
The College of Maritime Education congratulates Batch 2013! Go and conquer the world, Cadets! (AMD)
