FEATI University FOUNDERS’ DAY 2014
In keeping with FEATI tradition, on March 6, 2014, the entire FEATI community came together to honor its’ founders Victoria Lopez de Araneta (VLA) and her husband, Salvador Zaragoza Araneta. It was also VLA’s 107th birthday. The couples’ “fire in their bellies” made FEATI a byword in the academe establishing the university as the “Go-To” University for Engineering, Maritime, Aeronautical, Architecture, Business and Arts studies.
Founders’ Day was, as per tradition, marked with celebratory musical tributes, speeches, and a huge birthday cake. This year, FEATI was joined by VLA’S family. Eldest daughter Mrs. Carmen Araneta Segovia, grandson CEO and Vice-Chairman of FEATI University Board of Trustees Francisco A. Segovia and his lovely wife Mrs. Ging Segovia all enjoyed performances by the FEATI Chorale, violinist Rondaile De La Paz, “FEATI’s Got Talent” reigning champion Louis Virtusio, 2nd placer Jairomel Agustin, 3rd placer Jaime Paul Naces and the Helios Dance Troupe. A one-of-a-kind and rarely seen duet was generously performed by Sister Emily Camarote of Campus Ministry and Choir master Mr. Armin Comon.
The ISAA or Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association is composed of Manila Adventist College, Philippine Merchant Marine School, St. Dominic College of Asia, Manila Tytana Colleges, Philippine Women's University, La Consolacion College Manila and FEATI University.
An on-the-spot sketching contest was served up as side-entertainment with Mr. and Mrs. Segovia awarding the plum prizes to Khrizna Gabrielle Talastas (1st Place), Nurzicar Hadjaruddin (2nd Place) and Leon Miguel Ruedas (3rd Place), all of whom are FEATIU Fine Arts students. The event also became the ideal venue for launching of the junior Philippine Association of University Women (PAUW), a group championing the cause of women in the academe. FEATIU alumni were likewise special guests that day led by Engr. Dante Valencia, President of the FEATI University Alumni Association Global Inc. Poignant, sentimental, with a touch of whimsy, thus was Founders’ Day celebrated this year. (AMD)
