FEATI U to work with MTR Academy Hong Kong for inclusion of railway engineering and technology in its engineering programs
FEATI University has once again raised the bar when it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the MTR Academy (MTRA) of Hong Kong to support its efforts in the inclusion of engineering and railway technology in its engineering programs.
Already offering recognized engineering programs, the University has taken another major step to further strengthen its engineering programs in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and electronics and communications engineering with the inclusion of railway engineering and technology strands and electives in the new four-year engineering curricula, as well as in a new three-year railway technology program.
The MOU between FEATI University and MTR Academy was signed on April 24, 2018 at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ingr. Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez, FEATI University President and Morris Cheung, MTR Academy President.
“We are working very closely with both Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) and MTR Academy in improving our concept of incorporating railway engineering, technology and management in the curricula of our engineering programs” said Dr. Cesar F. Domingo, Director of FEATI Professional Schools.
According to Dr. Gopez this is an organized effort to produce the first railway-oriented programs in the Philippines that will support the need to expand the transportation infrastructure in the country. Moreover, this will give FEATI students who will take the new programs a crucial advantage in learning railway engineering and technology as early as senior high school, continuing on to the 3-year railway technology program or the engineering programs of their choice. One major advantage for prospective students is that graduates are not only assured of being trained and certified in railway technology and engineering, but also practically guaranteed to obtain jobs as railway professionals here or overseas, with concomitant remuneration.
