FEATI University's Aeronautical and Aircraft Maintenance Tech Engineers successfully engineer their ideal careers
People are in awe of Engineers and for good reason. Nothing on land, air, and sea gets built without them.
At FEATI University’s College of Aeronautical and Aircraft Maintenance Department, there are four who are trailblazing their way to a sky’s-the-limit career.
Engr.Anthony De Celis graduated in 2006 from FEATI University with a degree in BS Aeronautical Engineering. That same year, he took the licensure examination, not only passed it but placed second place on the roster of board passers. He then enrolled at the MTP program of Aviation Partnership Philippines and completed it in 6 months. The following year he joined the same company as one of its Technical Instructors and in 2011 accepted an offer to work abroad where he is earning a salary he thought he would never be able to make.
Engr. Dave Jandusay is a graduate of FEATI University with a degree in BS Aeronautical Engineering, Batch 2010. Like Engr. De Celis, he placed second in the licensure examination. He later joined Aviation Partnership Philippines as a Quality Engineer then was promoted to Auditor. Simultaneously, Engr. Jandusay was part-time instructor at his alma mater.
Engr. Edryan Acosta graduated Cum Laude, earned his license, and immediately joined the FEATI University Department of Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Technology teaching force in 2008. He was both OIC and technical instructor in the department. Later, he was hired by Aviation Partnership Philippines as a Quality Engineer. After eight months, Engr. Acosta was promoted to Technical Instructor B then went up to grade A level after a year.
Engr. Gastardo graduated from FEATI University in 2005 with a degree in BS Aeronautical Engineering. His career started humbly at Dornier Techologies where he was hired as Tool Keeper. From there he worked himself up to the position of Quality Engineer then to Quality Assurance Manager. Before turning corporate, Engr. Gastardo was Technical Instructor at his alma mater and PhilSCA – the Philippine State College of Aeronautics, the aviation state college of the Philippines.
Aside from these four shining examples of success borne out of quality education, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Technology has produced men and women who are poised to take flight in the industry. The Department is indeed recognized from decades of providing excellent standards when it comes to quality education. The bottom line, always, is quality education. (AMD)
Capt. Gregorio B. Sialsa, tossed his graduation cap in 1978. 2004’s Outstanding Seafarer of the Year at the 9th National Seafarers Day because of his exemplary deed, character and competence and erstwhile radio commentator is the President and Operations Manager of Anglo-Easter Crew Management Phils. Inc. Capt Sialsa is committed to making the lives of Filipino seafarers and their families better by making sure that they get topnotch salaries plus medical insurance to officers and their respective families, bonuses, company-paid trainings and other value-added perks especially tailored for the hard-working seafarers.
Ireneo Bughao’s quirky achievement may make him the darling of the University’s young generation. He is the recipient of Ripley’s Believe It or Not citation for being able to calculate the specific day of a week on any day in the past or in the future faster than a microcomputer. Bughao is a BS Marine Engineering alumnus, Batch 1986.
Commodore Gregorio L. Lim graduated in 1962 with a BS Marine Engineering degree. He was a Superintendent at the Philippine Military Academy from 1962-1972. He also received the following service awards: Distinguished Service Star, US Legion of Merit Degree Officer, Philippine Defense Service Medal, US Presidential Unit Citation Badge, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Badge, and Philippine Navy Senior Command Badge.
Glenn John Llorente, FEATI scholar and alumnus was recently featured in Buhay Marino, a glossy magazine for the maritime shipping. Glenn was only sixteen years old when he and his mother came to Buhay Marino Media to appeal for help in the form of a college scholarship. They were fortunate to have found the solution to their plight as the publication was then ready to give out scholarships with the help of FEATI. He only had to make sure that he was ready to maintain the grade point average necessary to retain and maintain his scholarship here. Retain and maintain he did. Glenn graduated and has recently gotten off his maiden vessel, the M/V Nyack Princess from Brazil. His first nine months as cadet was enough for him to get promoted to Ordinary Seaman. He plans to take his licensure examination, a necessary step that would propel him to his dream of becoming a master mariner.
They are the men of the College of Maritime: courageous, fearless, and competent. Unmistakably FEATI’s own. (AMD)
