FEATInian Champions Solar Power with His Solar-Powered Systems
He is perhaps this generation’s Dr. Zara, FEATI University’s legendary inventor and first dean ofthe College of Engineering whose Zara Cup is the hottest award of the annual FEATIU Scienceand Technology Expo.
Francis Garcia, FEATI University Class of 1995 Bachelor of Science in Electronics andCommunications Engineering is one of the leading solar experts in the country and an inventorof many solar gadgets, including a multi-purpose solar-powered street lighting system with USBsockets to recharge mobile phones, laptops and other gadgets.
He is the founder and project manager of FFG Solar Power Trading, a company bearing his namethat distributes and installs high-quality solar technologies for residential and commercialestablishments.
In the US, he worked as an engineer and IT manager for several companies before coming backhome to put up FFG.
Twelve classrooms at Sotero Francisco Memorial National High School in Valenzuela City, asolar-powered light house in Batangas, a solar-powered area in UP Diliman, and another inEstero de Paco to pump and purify liquid waste before going into the river; all are powered byGarcia’s FFG Solar.
For Francis Garcia this is only the beginning; his goal is for every barangay and Pinoyhousehold to enjoy clean and renewable energy via solar powered systems. It’s about time too.(AMD)
