First batch of FEATI University Senior High Students graduate

STA. CRUZ, Manila -- The Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises of senior high school students of FEATI University on April 19, 2018 at the University’s Activity Center marked another first for the prestigious learning institution founded in 1946.

This is the first batch of graduates from the K to 12 curriculum mandated by the Department of Education to make the country’s high school graduates more competitive and at par with their counterparts in the global economy.

FEATI University president, Dr. Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez, Vice Chairman of the Board and CEO Francisco A. Segovia, Senior High School Executive Director Jowina M. Segovia, Senior High School Principal Salvacion T. Sacaguing and other University officials attended the event.

The graduates finished their STEM studies in Maritime (6 graduates), in Engineering (2 graduates), in Aeronautics (16 graduates), and in HUMSS-Communication (1 graduate).

The Keynote Address during the Commencement Exercises of Class 2018 was given by Engr. Gilbert B. Magbutay, an accomplished civil and geodetic engineer who owns GIBMA Engjneering Services. A loyal FEATINIAN, he finished both his high school (1983) and baccalaureate degrees in FEATI (1988). He graduated as 1st honorable mention in high school and Cum Laude when he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Engr. Magbutay imparted to the students his personal philosophy in life. He encouraged the graduates to find their place in the sun, to continue studying and learning new things, to work beyond expectations and to be firm and stand by their convictions.

During the event, FEATI University also gave special awards and recognitions to outstanding students in various fields of arts, sciences and sports. The Best in Aeronautics was given to Wilver Von L. Mendoza, who also graduated with distinction. Hafsa Zaman Sharika was the only other student to graduate with distinction. Laurenz Anthony F. Nuñeza was The Best in Maritime.

Special awards were also given to outstanding students in the FEATI Core Values Creative Presentation, Spelling Bee, Song Interpretation, Oratorical Contest, Dubsmash, Painting, Carving, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Dart, and Dodge Ball.
