Eduardo B. Sarmiento of FEATI University is PRC 2016 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Geodetic Engineering!

Outstanding is outstanding does is Eduardo B. Sarmiento, a FEATI University Geodetic Engineering graduate of the class of 2000, licensed Geodetic Engineer and member of the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (GEPI). In 2016 Engr. Sarmiento was recognized as an ASEAN Engineer and listed in the ASEAN Engineers Register by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations.

The current proprietor and GM of THETAN Computerized Mapping and Engineering Services is successful in merging personal, professional, and civic duties that have resulted to citations and recognitions in one full, glorious and full-steam ahead life.

Post FEATI, Sarmiento went on to learn more of his chosen profession. Seminars and hands-on training in Cartography, Photo Laboratory Operations, Survey Instrumentation, Computerized Mapping and Design, Computerized Data Recording and Processing of Field Data, Computerized Geodetic Control Adjustment and Database Management, AutoCAD/DCA and DOS, SDR Mapping and Design System, GYRO STATION and GPS, GPS Survey and Data Processing, Geographical Information System (GIS), Cadastral Survey, DAR-CARP, SUMMIT Evolution Professional Photogrammetric Software.

From 1976 to 2016, he rolled up his sleeves and hard-hatted his way to work for DCCD Engineering Corporation, ASIA HALCROW, INC., M&M AL ARJI Trading and Contracting Company, FAHD BIN MUQRIN BIN ABDULAZIZ AL SAOUD CO. (where he designed and constructed Saudi Prince Muqrin’s Palace), Universal Cartographic and Development Corp., and the Bureau of Coast and Geodetic Survey.

Aside from membership in GEPI and his status as ASEAN Engineer, his professional affiliations with the ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics (2014-2016); Philippine Geodetic Engineering and Geomatics Society (2011-Present); PAGEC (2009-2011); COFILCO (2009-Present) further stretched his range beyond his job title when he handled critical responsibilities in various positions in companies and organizations ranging from corporate member, treasurer, governor, president, vice-president, to director.

His love for Geodetic Engineering has taken him to various congresses in Sydney, Australia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Singapore; Taichung, Taiwan; and of course, the Philippines.

His leadership and compassion in action as a Rotarian has made him the Most Outstanding Rotary President of the Rotary International District 3780 and saw him being voted four times as the Most Outstanding Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Cubao.

2016 continues to shine the spotlight on Eduardo B. Sarmiento.

As the GEPI Most Outstanding Geodetic Engineer of the year, Engineer Eduardo B. Sarmiento is the 2016 recipient of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Outstanding Professional of the year Award in the field of Geodetic Engineering given on June 22, 2016. He now belongs to the hall reserved only for the few who are genuinely outstanding.
