The blazing finale: FEATI's Got Talent!
On August 8, 2013 at the University Bridgepoint, amidst the thunderous and passionate applause of the filled-to-the-rafters audience members, suave singer Louis Virtusio, a third year student from School of Fine Arts, bested sixteen competitors becoming the first ever grand champion of FEATI Got Talent (FGT). Louis was joined by 1st runners-up, Helios Dance Crew and Jaime Paul Naces; 2nd runner-up, Jairomel Agustin; and 3rd runner-up, Teenage Swagger. They, champions all, took home trophies, cash, and loot bags from FEATI’s generous sponsors.
Making up the judging panel were Ms. Lou Bonnevie, Queen of Pop Rock Music, award-winning Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist, Concert-Performer, Producer and Environmentalist who has had twenty-five years of making beautiful music for the Filipino audience. Lou has also produced and starred in her first environmental production, Earthborne, a musical festival that paved the way for the annual Earth Day Jam, a music and street celebration in honor of Earth Day; Ms. Joy Rago, who like Lou has twenty-five years of experience, albeit in another field, theatre, as Producer, Production Manager and Costume Designer. Joy also received a Best Supporting Actress nod for her performance in the play “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” by Peque Gallaga. She is currently the costume consultant for International School Manila (ISM) and the costume consultant cum custodian for Repertory Philippines. Rounding off the panel of judges, Mr. Richie Pescador, former Head of Human Resources at FEATI and is now a faculty-at-large at the College of Business. Aside from his academic and professional prowess, Richie is also a very gifted singer and performer who lends his baritone to various singing engagements extended by friends from other private organizations
The BOB band, whose lead guitarist Ron Coronado is FEATI’s own from the Department of Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT), played several songs during intermission. BOB is made up of talented and passionate musicians, vocalist Doreen, Ron Coronado, bass guitarist Gale, drummer Lowell and keyboardist Jhunjie. The BOB band is versatile as they can perform pop, R&B, Bossa Nova, and alternative music in their numerous gigs.
Holding fort as Master of Ceremonies was Ramir P. Ramirez, a faculty member of the IT Department, while the Esteban Abada High School Dance Troupe provided the exciting opening number. A raffle was also held during the event which incidentally was a stepped-up celebration for FEATI’s University Day.
