FEATInians attend in-depth A320 Familiarization Seminar
Aside from classroom learning, students need to familiarize themselves with trends and practices in their prospective industry sector. Indeed, there are aspects of industry that the academe cannot expose the students to. As a result, there are instances when students and graduates, though well-versed in the basics and theory, still fall short of the expectations of industry. Sometimes this can prevent them from fitting in with many companies.
To prevent this from happening, the academe has always sought ways to equip students (and future graduates) with the knowledge required by industry. One well-known solution is to let them attend seminars featuring industry experts as speakers and lecturers.
On December 7th and 16th, almost a hundred 3rd and 4th year BS AMT students, as well as 5th year BS Aeronautical Engineering students participated in the Airbus A320 Systems Familiarization Seminar organized by the FEATI University Aviation Society for Research and Development (FEATI-ASRAD). Shooting two birds with one stone, the fifth year Aero students were also enrolled in the subject Aeronautical Engineering Seminar and Field Trips.
Three seasoned PRC registered aeronautical engineers who are presently affiliated with multi-national aviation companies, namely Engr. Eugene Meric Ian C. Esposado and former FEATI Aero-AMT faculty members Engr. Randy M. Rano and Engr. Kyle D. Dela discussed the ATA Chapters concerning the A320 family of aircraft for the benefit of the attendees.
Among the topics covered were the A320 airframe and powerplant. The speakers also educated the students on the navigation, electrical and refueling systems of the A320 family.
A CD containing the seminar lectures and materials was also issued to the attendees, for their future reference.
To end the two-part seminar, an examination was given to the participants, passers of which were given a certificate of completion signed by the three speakers as well as by Engr. Edryan H. Acosta, FEATI Aero-AMT Department Chair. (DEPJ)
