FEATI University forum banks on research as foundation of intellectual development
FEATI University has been and will always be known as one of the best academic institutions when it comes to research. Thus it is hardly surprising that the research forum held recently at the university’s cozy AVR, attended by the best and the brightest the university has to offer, deconstructed and reconstructed the theme “Putting Research at the forefront of Intellectual Development.” Members of the research committee, Chairman Dr. Rogelio A. Panlasigui; Vice Chairman Mr. Leo Mendel D. Rosario; Members, 2/Engr. Edmon S. Aloc of the College of Maritime Education, Dean Tristan H. Macapanpan of the College of Business, Arch. Ma. Joycelyn B. Mananghaya of the College of Architecture, Dr. Milagros P. Navarro of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education, Ms. Janice L. Young of the School of Fine Arts, and Mr. Cesar F. Domingo of the Professional Schools; and Secretary, Engr. Mary Ann F. Manlapao went through various topics like a fine-toothed comb to come up with the choicest morsels for discussion.
After the invocation and introductory remarks by Sr. Nicetas M. Favorito D.C. and Dr. Panlasiqui, the forum proper began with the nuts and bolts on Development of Converter for Software Application Portability by Ms. Leonila F. Beroy, Instructor at the IT department. Ms. Beroy was followed by invited presenter, Dr. Nieves M. Medina, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Director of Research of St. Paul University Manila, who presented Values-Based Driven Practice in Business: Impetus behind Superior Performance. A lunch break was called thereafter ending the morning session.
When the afternoon session began, Dr. Jay-R D. Basitao of the Aeronautical Department gave a recap of that morning’s activities then it was on to Mr. Leo Mendel D. Rosario, Deputy Head of ORDE, for his take on Atmospheric Plasma Technology, a topic usually reserved for the extremely cerebral but thanks to Mr. Rosario’s easy breezy way of sharing, became easy to grasp. To give the assembly some time to recover from too much Science, spiritual fare courtesy of Dr. Gloria Mateo-Alberto was presented. Dr. Alberto presented Integration of Family Values in Education: A Collaborative Communion with God, a very timely topic considering the tendency of today’s youth to focus more on the material as a form of self-worth or validation.
Dr. Maria Cecilia R. Paringit, Head of the Geodetic Engineering Department, closed the presentation aspect of the forum with her presentation on Remote Sensing and GIS for Parking Inventory Study.
In between topics, time was allotted for open forums where spirited discussions took place. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded by Dr. Panlasigui and then Dean Macapanpan gave the closing remarks as the final chapter closes on the day’s event. Special thanks to Ms. Glaiza Rose S. Blanca for her part as Master of Ceremony. (AMD)
