Balik Scientist, Former Air Force Pilot and FEATI Outstanding Alumnus is Keynote Speaker in FEATI graduation
Hail to the Graduates of Batch 2010!
FEATI University is set to hold its 2010 Commencement Exercises at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on April 19 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The theme of these exercises is “A Celebration of Achievements”, which speaks not only of the individual and collective achievements of Batch 2010 but also of its distinguished guest of honor and keynote speaker.
Engr. Charles “Chuck” C. Castro, a DOST Balik-Scientist, former Air Force pilot, and Outstanding FEATI Alumnus, will be giving the keynote address. Engr. Castro earned his degree in Aeronautical Engineering in FEATI in 1966. Among the countless feathers in his cap include having been the Company Commander of the first Engineer Combat Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Officer of the elite Philippine Army Special Forces (Paratrooper), Philippine Civic Action Group Vietnam and pilot of the Philippine Air Force. He later moved to the U.S.A where, among others, he led the development and integration of the USAF F-16 aircraft avionics systems, inertial navigation system and global positioning systems (GPS) and overall avionics suite. He is certified in three academic and professional disciplines namely Developmental Engineering, Weapons Acquisition Program Management and Developmental Test and Evaluation.
He was named as one of the 20 Outstanding Filipino Americans in the United States and Canada in 1995 and was honored with the Panday Pira Award for Engineering in 2006. In 2007, he was inducted into the Chicago Filipino Hall of Fame for Engineering and Community Achievement. He was among the 2009 Outstanding Alumni Awardees of FEATI University. In 2009 he was also a DOST Balik Scientist in Aeronautical Engineering. (KAL)
