FEATI and MASCO Inaugurate First Mayor Alfredo S. Lim Tourney
The Manila Sports Council (MASCO) gave a much needed boost to the efforts of FEATI University to spearhead a collegiate basketball tournament by co-sponsoring the first ever Mayor Alfredo S. Lim Invitational Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament.
The games kicked off, September 20 at the San Andres Gym in Malate, Manila.
Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA) member-schools FEATI University, Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU), Philippine College of Criminology (PCCr), De Ocampo Memorial College (DOMC), St. Jude College, Metro Manila College (MMC), and Central Colleges of the Philippines (CCP) re-unite on the hard court for more scintillating hoop action. Joining the fray are Lyceum of the Philippines University, La Consolacion College Manila (LCCM) and City College of Manila (CCM).
The Sampaloc-based cagers of St. Jude College were the first casualties of the competition as the FEATI Seahawks played flawlessly on their way to a smooth finish in the first game of the tourney.
The successful partnership between FEATI and the Manila Sports Council in the holding of the FEATI Blue & Gold Fun Run last August opened the door for the inaugural basketball tournament as a natural continuation of FEATI’s advocacy for health and wellness and as more evidence of Manila’s continuing support to develop the youth through sports.
FEATI President Dr.-Ing Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez, MASCO Chairman Mr. Niño dela Cruz, and Andres Y. Narvasa, President of the Basketball Coaches of the Philippines represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Tanny Gonzalez, declared the tournament open.
