WELDING SKILLS CENTER INAUGURATED

Now it can be told….FEATI University in partnership with Engr. Bernardo Benito and his organization opened the WELDING SKILLS CENTER (WSC) July 17, 2008 in a simple ceremony attended by the FEATI Academic Council and ManCom. The WSC facility is located at the ground floor of Bldg. 3 adjacent to the new Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop, and boasts of a 24-cubicle welding school equipped to provide training for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) – Plate/Pipe, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Metal Arc Welding (GTAW) modules. On Monday, July 21, the first batch of student-trainees will begin their 80-hour (10-day) training module on their way to becoming world class welders.

The inauguration started with a short prayer led by Sr. Rowena Borcillo DC, followed by short messages from Dr. L.V. Abis, VPAA, Engr. B. Benito and President A.J.R. Gopez. Then after a brief tour of the facility, the group witnessed a demonstration by the welding trainors, who are TESDA Welding Champions in their own right.
Engr. Bernardo “Ding” Benito brings with him over ten (10) years of experience as a professional welder and trainor certified by TESDA and the American Welding Society. His organization has trained thousands of welders, many of whom are now based overseas. On many occasions, Ding had participated, coached or trained champions in Philippine and Asian welding skills competitions.
Two of these champions, Ms. Jennifer Evangelista and Mr. Ronald Rino are full time trainors at the WSC.
