Dr. Leopoldo V. Abis is a retired professor at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, where he also earned his degrees in B.S. Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1954). With his MS in Mechanical Engineering (1958) and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering(1969), both from Kansas State University, he has spanned his 50 years academic career with other professional endeavors related to engineering, research and advocacy.

Dr. Abis published articles and books on science and technology, engineering and trainings for engineering institutions particularly that which benefited the field of mechanical engineering. He also initiated and participated in various local and international researches and projects related to energy and materials conservations, maintenance, among others.
His valuable contributions in the field of mechanical engineering earned him enumerable citations and commendations, including the Productivity Excellence Award from Asian Productivity Organization – Philippine Society, 1995. |
